Bethan Taylor-Swaine

Hi there, how are you today?

I’m Bethan and I’m all about strategies to have more energy for life and live well in the world.

I’ve struggled with my wellbeing and mental health for most of my life. Over the years I’ve found things that have helped make things more manageable and I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learnt to help other people ‘Live Well In The World’.

my manifesto

Energy is at the heart of everything I do. When you understand the relationship between stress and rest then you’ll have a better handle on your energy. This post and this post are great intros to how I think.

‘Living Well In The World’ is a phrase one of my doctors used and I loved it so made it my benchmark for wellbeing. For me it means being able to do the things I want to do, live productively and participate in my community unencumbered.

Mindset, gratitude and connection all play a huge role in my life and are things I prioritise for my wellbeing. I share a lot about how these tools have helped me, and how they could help you.

Movement is really important to me. I’ve been running for years and have run everything from 1 mile sprints to ultra marathon. I credit running with being my ‘lightbulb moment’ when I realised I was capable of so much more than I ever dreamed. It changed my life and you can read the story here. I started outdoor swimming after a difficult patch in 2020 and it’s been a game changer. The positive effect on my wellbeing has been palpable and its why I share so much about it. I honestly believe cold water immersion can have amazing benefits for all of us. I’m a qualified PT and I love introducing people to movement - nothing is better than seeing someone do something they never thought they could do, it’s magic!

About Me

I live in South London with my husband Mike, our daughter Evie and Loki the Brussels Griffon in a flat that has views over the whole city.

A few years ago I quit the city and went back to university to work on my PhD and I spend my days researching the representations and identities of women in ultra running in the Sport Business Research Centre at Birkbeck, University of London. You can find out more about my work here.

When I’m not running, swimming or studying I work as a freelance research consultant (find out more about my consultancy here) and am part of the team at Work Inspired helping organisations overcome the barriers to workplace wellbeing. Mike and I I also run a podcast production company and consultancy called Low Key Audio where we help all sorts of people make sexy sounding podcasts using our mobile studio and run workshops for influencers and businesses who want to get into podcasting.

It means the world to me that you’ve chosen to be part of my community and I can’t wait to get to know you better! Remember to connect with me on Instagram and get in touch below if you need anything.
